Marc Allera will leave operator at the end of the year and will be replaced by current sales director Amanda Lambert and new recruit from Three Austria
Three sales and marketing director Marc Allera will be replaced by current Three sales director Amanda Lambert when he leaves the operator at the end of the year.
Current Three Austria marketing director Tom Malleschitz will also join the operator as marketing director to fill some of Allera’s duties.
The announcement comes shortly after Three chief executive Kevin Russell announced he would step down from his position to return to Australia. Russell will be replaced by Three UK chief operating officer David Dyson on July 1.
Allera who has been with Three for a decade said his reason for leaving was based on his ambitions to “lead at the highest level” which has lead to suggestions he was unsuccessful in applying for Russell’s job.
Allerra said: “I’ve thought long and hard about this decision. At this stage in my career I want to lead at the highest level and I am also actively considering international opportunities given that our children are still young enough for us to be flexible as a family.
“ So, rather than sit on my thinking until later in the year, given the level of commitment Dave and the team will require from my area, I have decided I should communicate my position now so that I can plan my future in the way I wish to and the business can move ahead in an open way with my succession plan.”
He also left the door open to taking up another position at Three parent company Hutchison.
“I may stay within Hutchison, which I admire for its drive, professionalism and incredibly talented people, or take-up a role outside the group that has felt like a family to me for the past decade.
“It is very likely that I will stay focused on the mobile, internet and hardware technology ecosystem having been at the heart of developments over the past ten years,” Allera said.
David Dyson, who as mentioned will become new Three CEO in July paid tribute to Allera’s work at the operator.
“I and other members of the Senior Management Team have enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with Marc for many years and he has played a vital role in creating a strong platform for our future growth.
“ I will be sad to see Marc leave but confident that he will use the strong skills and experience gained while at Three UK to great advantage in his future career.”
