The iPhone 4 features a 5 megapixel camera, and it is capable of recording video in HD at a resolution of 720p, we have been hearing rumors that the iPhone 5 will feature an 8 megapixel camera, possibly a Sony CMOS sensor, which would mean it would be capable of Full HD Video in 1080p.
The guys over at 9 To 5 Mac have discovered something interesting in iOS 5, the ability for apps to export videos in 1080p, which would mean that Apple has a device in the works that can record Full HD Video in 1080p.
This would confirm the earlier rumors that the iPhone 5 would feature an 8 megapixel camera, unless Apple has another iOS device in the works with an 8 megapixel camera.
We suspect the iPhone 5 will be announced with an 8 megapixel camera in tow at the same time as iOS 5 is announced later this year, which is reported to be about some time in September.
