Samsung now accounts for 1/3 of Android phones sold globally

We know Samsung‘s already sold 10 million Galaxy S smartphones since June of last year, but how much of an impact has the Korean handset maker really had in the Android scene?

Samsung heart Android

Well, if Unwiredview newest report is to be believed, Samsung apparently now accounts for 1/3 of all Android phones sold globally. This is based on the assumption that a total of 23 million Android phones were activated between October to December, and 8 million of that figure went to Samsung courtesy of their hit Galaxy S series, their other Android phones (Galaxy 5, Galaxy 3, etc.) and Galaxy Tab.

Quite an impressive feat especially given the fact that it’s just been 7 months since they took their Android stint seriously. With such a remarkable record, it makes you wonder less why they were able to bag the rights to produce the 2G Nexus phone, the Nexus S.

And with a whole new year ahead of them, ever success they have from here on end will definitely help them inch closer to Nokia, and their ultimate goal of grabbing the leadership from the Finnish phone maker.
