With most consumers anxiously awaiting the launch of Samsung and Acer’s notebooks, the Australian manufacturer is capitalizing on the opportunity by releasing the world’s first Chrome OS notebook.
According to the company’s online shop, the 11.6” Agora laptop comes with a 1366×768 resolution and is highlighted by a boot time of less than 5 seconds thanks in part to its 30GB SSD. In addition, the notebook comes with an Intel Celeron M ULV SU2300 processor clocked at 1.30 GHz; unlike the Atom processors found in Acer and Samsung’s machines. Otherwise, the world’s first Chrome laptop also comes with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 1.3MP webcam, 3 USB ports, HDMI, VGA, and a 4-cell battery good for a less than optimal 3.5 hours.
While the laptop’s specs might pale in comparison to the upcoming Chrome notebooks, the earlier launch is sure to earn Kogan some extra points. Furthermore, the laptop is priced at $349 Australian ($373 US), which is cheaper than Samsung’s expected $429 starting price tag but higher than Acer’s $349 bill.
