Formspring Updates With SMS Features

Popular social questions and answers service, Formspring have now updated to enable new SMS features, which enable the user to receive SMS alerts, ask questions, respond to questions, and send questions to their social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

According to Mashable, Fromsping SMS alerts can be extensively customised such as opting to receive SMS questions from anyone, not at all, or from only those people you follow, and the same options apply to when the user receives responses to their questions.

Apparently the service is free at Formspring’s end but the usual service provider SMS bill will still apply, and at present the Formspring service is only available in the USA.

Formspring CEO Ade Olonoh has said in a release… “The potential for mobile responses is huge. SMS alerts are just the beginning of our efforts to support our members in responding to the world around them.”

Apparently the Formspring mobile website currently receives 22.5 million hits a month, with the firm claiming that ten million question responses are posted per day, so the use of SMS could push that even further.

If you are in the US and have use of a mobile phone you can sign up for a free Formspring account by visiting http://www.formspring.me/account/mobile.
